A Danish Home in the Heart of Cape Town
Sunday, June 5th, 2011I am about to explode with excitement as I share this inspirational home with you!!! This beautiful home feels like a page torn out of an inspirational Danish home decor magazine that inspires people give their homes a living heartbeat. My very special friends are the home makers of this home, and the stylish pair have put so much soul into their space, that the walls whisper stories upon entering their stylish apartment.
As you step out of the elevator, you enter the apartment, and a swoop of beauty in the air scoops you off your feet. The scent of candles and fresh flowers lures you deeper into this apartment.
The details of decor have really inspired me to bring more greens, clear glass and ceramics into my own space.
The beautiful main bedroom remains a modest comfortable resting place. If sweet dreams don’t come from this space, then surely it hums whimsical lullabies.
A sneak preview of the guest bedroom is shown through the glass panels.
The photoshoot ended as the sun was about to retire. And we lay back, had a few laughs, and enjoyed wine with fairy lights.
Dylan and Johan, thank you very much for inspiring MIKU with your beautiful home. The walls of your home spread so much inspiration, and reflect all the goodness in both your hearts.
Easter with Hayon Studios
Tuesday, April 26th, 2011In light of celebrating Easter, I’ve dedicated this post to shapes of furniture inspired from the “egg shape”. Rounded edge furniture were more common in the Retro days. Jaime Hayon, a spanish designer has brought the Retro edged furnishing into a urban space setting, where his works are styled with the contemporary touch that credit inspiration to vintage shapes.
This particular design caught my fancy, the project is FAVN for Fritz Hansen. This is a collaboration work between Jaime Hayon and Danish designer Fritz Hansen. The shape of the sofa is inspired and based on a shell. He explains it as a piece with a protective exterior, and an embracing interior. I’m so glad to have found this piece for my Easter post!
There are many beautiful shades of basics and brights.
Jaime Hayon is renowned for his works. His portfolio from his studio includes collections of designer toys, beautiful ceramics and a stunning furniture range. Amongst all of those creations, he has also done a few interiors and design installations. This particular installation fits perfectly in this Easter post. Jaime Hayon took part in renovating the information center for the Groninger Museum in December 2010, Netherlands’s contemporary art and design museum.
Hope you all had a fantastic Easter weekend!
My Imaginary “Yellow” Living Room
Tuesday, March 15th, 2011The concept of designing your own space is understanding how to use neutral colours and core items. By getting that right, the addition of a bright colour adds quirkyness and livens the entire space. I was so mesmerized by this image, that I have catalogued this as my “imaginary” yellow living room. Many people fear using accent colours, but look at the amazing difference it makes?
I’ve added my little yellow moodboard below
And if these Yellow Inspirations aren’t enough for you, I though this yellow reading room was quite interesting too
Hope you all have a superb YELLOW day
