The Artisan’s Loft

Tuesday, November 15th, 2011

I love travelling. If that passion didn’t need a big fund, I’d be travelling every month! But then again who wouldn’t….

One place that has never been on my priority list is America. My brother, on the other-hand is a huge fan of New York. He has always been the cool kid in town, always up to date with the latest gadgets and high fashion labels and pieces, always a few notches ahead of me. When he returned from New York, he told me that I’d love SoHo. I dug a bit deeper to read about the architectural history behind those amazing spaces, and yes, he was right. SoHo interiors and spaces are incredibly fascinating!

The exterior surface of these buildings are beautifully preserved. I like to refer to this area as “The artisan’s neighbourhood” . This is where the home of Natalya and Eugene Kashper is located. Natalya is an architecht, and has managed to transform this loft into such an amazing living space.

Urban Lofts

The entire layout is open and spacious, the pieces and decor are minimal, and yet inviting due to the hues chosen for the mood.

I’ll definitely be peeking more into these stunning spaces in SoHo. Stay tuned!

[DIY] Urban Floors

Friday, November 4th, 2011

One thing I really envy is wooden flooring. I love the orignal colonial solid wooden floors. The sound of the creaks – even when you tip toe around with socks on, or the sound of dogs’ paws gently tapping on the floors. Today’s DIY inspiration is for those that love the urban Scandanavian inspirations and wooden floors.

This might take much patience with stencils and paint. One could also consider using decal cut outs for a small space like an entrance hall. The decals could function as temporary changes or to test if you like the look. Contact me if you’re looking for decals, I could get them cut to spec for you :)

Loving this!! Happy Friday :)
